My First Award!!!

I am so excited to get my first blog award. I was nominated by Keeping Up With The Davidsons and Kentucky Newlyweds! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Here are the rules...list 10 things that make you happy and nominate 10 other blogs to do the same. So here we go, in no particular order:

1. Blog awards. I love that everyone is so supportive and friendly in the blog world:)

2. Paul Mitchell the School. I am currently attending the school in Louisville, KY and am LOVING it! Make an appointment and come see me tuesday, wednesday, and thursday from 5pm-10pm.
3. I love being a blonde. It just brightens my day:)

4. My love my chihuahua Coco. I got her in college. She just turned 5 this past fall. She is the greatest, despite the loud barking and the incredibly small bladder. Since I moved out of my mom's house, we have joint custody. Neither one of us could part with her completely.

5. I love interior design. This was a showhouse that we did a couple years ago. I thought it was beautiful. I love designing things in my own house as well as other's. I love everything about it from picking out the fabric to placing the furniture in the room.

6. Christmas time and getting new ornaments. Erin at Kentucky Newlyweds hosted an ornament swap. I recieved these lovely ornaments from Angela at Tales of a Short Southern Mama. I thought these were too cute. Thanks Angela, I love them! I can't wait to get more and more ornaments each year. That was my favorite thing about the holidays growing up. My sister and I loved to get all the ornaments out and put them on the tree or laugh at the old pictures in them.

7. I love my husband. He's the best! I guess he has to be since he puts up with me all the time;)

8. I love my wedding pictures! We used Robert Burge Photography from Louisville, KY and we couldn't have been hapier with the way they turned out. That was such a special day and the pictures are so fun to look back at all the memories.

9. I love my girlfriends. They are the greatest. Some I have known since elementary school and some only since college. I feel like I have known all these girls my entire life. They are the best friends a girl could ever ask for.

10. I love People Style Watch magazine. They have the greatest fashions and where to buy them. This also goes hand in hand with my love for shopping:)
I would like to nominate:
All About The Adkins
The Seattle Smith's
The Nitz Family
John and Jenna Plus One
A Beautiful Life

Keeping up with the Cavni'
Megan's Monologues

Front Door Wreath

Finally as promised...our front door wreath. I like to keep the boxwood up for most of the year. Yeah, it's definately not real:) It is sometimes plain and sometimes bedazzled with ribbon. In this case, I bought a large outdoor ribbon at Hobby Lobby and attached it to the top.

I also bought some scented pinecones today. I randomly placed them throughout all the berries that decorated the entertainment center, buffet station, window, and mantle. They are smelling up the whole house! Now it not only looks like Christmas around here but it smells like it too!!! I hope everyone has a great weekend:)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!

This past Saturday I decorated the house for the holidays. Here is our tree. And yes, I even wrapped some presents to put under the tree. Some of them are for Kevin's birthday. He turns 26 on Wednesday!

This is the right side of our entertainment center...

and this is the left.

Here is what it looks like all together.

Here is the back door. I thought this thing was so cute! It makes me smile everytime I walk in:)

This is the buffet station in the dining room.

Here is the kitchen sink window.

This is one side of the mantle over the fireplace...

and this is the other with our stockings. I got the stockings from World Market last year. Everything else came from Hobby Lobby or Target They both have the best deals going on! This year I decided to fill everything with the red berries. I thought about doing the snow but it would have been such a mess to clean up. I thought the berries turned out very festive and a lot cleaner.

I will post a picture of our front door wreath soon. For some reason, I didn't take any pictures of that. Oh well! I hope everyone has fun decorating for the holidays. There is nothing better than lighting up your christmas tree, cozying up in a blanket and watching your favorite holiday movie with a christmas sented candle burning. The holiday season is officially here!!!

WEDDINGS!!!

Like I said in my previous post, we have been to 3 weddings in 2 weeks! This is from my brother-in-law's (Kevin's brother) wedding. Their wedding was at The Nunnlea House in Louisville followed by a dinner there as well. It was very intimate with their closest family and friends. Here is my new sister-in-law Aly and my new neice Chloe. Chloe has a birthday coming up on Thanksgiving day! We are going to see the new Twilight movie to celebrate. I can't wait, even if it is with a bunch of pre-teens!

This is Jessica and Ben Tracy. I worked with Jessica at JAMfest. She is still with the company and they have the cutest little girl Taryn. Their wedding was at the Frazier Arms Museum in downtown Louisville. Everything was so fallish. It was beautiful. I loved getting to see my old coworkers. We always have a blast when we're together.
This is Katie and Chad Pfeifer. I was sorority sister's with Katie and I was Chad's fraternity's sweetheart. Their wedding was in Evansville, IN. Her flowers were amazing and had leaves mixed in with them. They had a patio connected to the reception where they had cigars and smores. What a great idea! On a side note, Katie had no idea where they were going on their honeymoon until she got to the airport this morning. I can't believe he kept it a secret that long.

We are so excited for all of our newleywed friends. We can't wait to share all the memories to come.

HALLOWEEN

Sorry for my absence. We have been to 3 weddings in 2 weeks! I will post about that later. For halloween, we decided to head to the UK game. We didn't get a chance to dress up, so all the stress of figuring out a costume was pointless. While I didn't take any pictures of myself on halloween, I did get a couple of my neice, Karley! Isn't she the cutest Minnie Mouse EVER?

BOOKS:

As you have seen from my most recent post (sorry it's been so long). I LOVE Vampire Diaries. I started reading the books. I am only a couple chapters in but I love it! They are very similiar to the Twilight books. The Vampire Diaries were actually written first. There are 4 books total and they are about 200-300 pages each. They are very easy to read. I will keep you posted on my opinion of them but I like it so far.

BABIES:

I just found out last night that one of our friends miscarried. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. On a lighter note, there are many of my friends that are currently pregnant. There must be something in the water:) Congrats to Camille, Erin H., Elizabeth, Erin D., Becca, Jenny.

All of these ladies are due between Christmas and Derby. It's going to be a crazy start to 2010!

Holiday Cards...already???

Call me crazy, but there's a little part of me that is super excited to send out holiday cards this year. Being our first christmas together as a married couple, I have been online for days searching for "the one." I know it seems early but it can take a few days to get them in and by the time I find the perfect photo, address them, AND stamp them all it will be time to send them out. I have found a few that I like but still not "the one." I am looking for something green, maybe monogrammed and maybe a little houndstooth somewhere. I'm also not opposed to any ribbons or bows. I was thinking about adding a wedding picture of some sort to make it more personal. Let me know if you all find anything.

Fall is here...

Yesterday, I went out in search of new fall decorations. I ended up with some hydrangea stems to make a new centerpiece for our table. I thought the colors matched our house perfectly and they looked so fallish. (Is that a word?) I still need a new wreath for our front door. The one that's on there now has been up since last August when Kevin moved in. It's time for a change.

Bring Back the Beehive

As most of you know, I started hair school at Paul Mitchell The School Louisville is August. I love it! I go Monday-Thursday from 5-10pm. On the days that I work, I go from 10-5 and then head straight to school. We have a lot of fun in class. So far we have learned about styling, color, and we are now on texture. Usually on Thursdays, we all practice on each other (styling only). Here are a couple pictures from last Thursday.

Charlotte, is that you?

This morning, I decided to get up and go for a walk. It was so nice out. Everything looked so pretty with the morning dew. The sunshine made everything sparkle. I think I might make this a habit until it gets too cold. It was so peaceful out as the sun was starting to come up. While I was walking, I almost ran into this HUGE spiderweb. It was almost 2 feet in diameter. This was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I am not a fan of spiders but this was amazing. It almost looked fake like someone had planted it there for the fall. I couldn't help but think of "Charlotte's Web." This moment reminded me that halloween is right around the corner. Goodbye summer, hello fall!

The entertainment center...

Here is our entertainment center. Accessories on it change almost daily but here it is anyway. By the way, of all the things Kevin has accomplished in his adult life, purchasing this tv ranks among the top three most proud moments:)

BANGS...young or old?

Up until my junior year in high school, I had bangs. I went for about 9 years without them and now, theeeiiiirrr baaaaaack! I went yesterday to get my hair done and decided it was time to make a change. Typically, when girls get married, they chop all their hair off. Why is that? We work so hard to grow it all out for the big day and then in a matter of minutes, it's gone! I think it's kind of cruel really. Your husband was used to you having all that hair and then once you are legally binded then you get rid of it. So instead of chopping my hair off, I went with bangs. I don't suppose anyone barrel rolls them anymore huh? If anyone is looking to make a quick change, I would highly suggest bangs because you can still style them to the side or keep them trendy. I'll give these a try for a while and let you know when I get sick of them. One thing I can't figure out, do bangs make me look older or younger? (I'm 25 for those of you that didn't know:)

The Closet

Since the big move, the challenge has been getting my clothes to fit in one place. Luckily, we had the perfect space attached to the full bath in the basement. It has become MY area of the house. Kevin has put up shelves up and cubbies for my shoes. It fits all of my clothes right now. I guess if I run out of room we'll have to move my closet to the guest room...or buy another house. For now, it's perfect!

and of course, SHOES!!!

The Kitchen!!!

This past Wednesday I organized our entire kitchen and cleaned our whole house. Until then, we had stack of presents waiting to be put away, opened, returned, and used. I reorganized EVERYTHING. It took me an entire day. I feel so much better when I walk into the house now. It is finally starting to feel like home. Especially since I know where everything is. So far, we have kept things pretty clean. I have found that if you pick up after yourselves a little bit everyday, then it is super easy to keep clean. The neater things are, the cleaner it seems and the easier it is to clean.

This is a view of the back door and sink area from the dining room. As you can see we have minimal cabinet space.

And again...

We bought this at Pier One so we would have a little more storage space. It goes perfectly!

This is a view from the back door. To the right is the dining room and to the left is the family room and hallway to the bedrooms.

Since we have so little storage space, I had to make a mini display on top of the refrigerator for the things that wouldn't fit anywhere. I had no choice but to get creative at this point.
