14 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: As of last week at my doctor's appointment, I had gained about 8 pounds. She said I was still right on track.

Sleep: Still sleeping good!

Food/Eating: No new news here. Still having trouble deciding what to eat but somehow I always find something:) Heartburn still comes and goes but has been less annoying lately.

Movement: Still nothing. I am hoping within the next month I will finally start to feel something.

Gender: June 27...can't wait. Does anyone have any ideas???

What I miss: Nothing yet. I have a feeling as the warm weather approaches, being the permanent designated driver will take it's toll:)

Looking forward to: Finding out the sex, registering, planning a room, and my next doctor's appointment in about a week.

13 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: I have no idea. I see my doctor today so I guess I will find out then. Other than the belly, I don't really think I've gained elsewhere--yet:)

Sleep: Still sleeping good and getting up once through the night to go to the bathroom.

Food/Eating: Still having a tough time deciding what to eat. Nothing ever sounds good. I have had really bad heartburn lately. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it will happen. Nothing I eat changes it either. It is really strange. At first, I tried to avoid certain foods but quickly realized it didn't matter. Drinking cold water seems to be the only thing to help. Kevin and I were both bald until we were about 2 so I'm not sure I believe the old wives tale:)

Movement: Still can't feel anything. I can't wait until I can!

Gender: June 27th we will find out and I can't wait to start planning and shopping!!!

What I miss: Nothing yet.

Looking forward to: Finding out the sex and seeing (or hearing) the little peanut again!

Kentucky Derby

I am ashamed to say that I didn't go to any races this past weekend:( Instead, Kevin's company was one of the sponsors in the Julep Ball so we attended that. It was a really fun night. All the money raised goes to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center in Louisville. Here we are on the red carpet:

This is Kevin being interviewed. Look out Seacrest!

We sat with Bill Paxton and his Dad. This was taken on my iPhone so it is a little blurry.

And for all you Vampire Diaries fans. Here I am with Ian Somerhalder (Damon). LOVE HIM!!!

12 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: So far only a couple pounds. My doctor says I should only gain about 25 pounds total. I am on track so let's hope I stay that way:) I am a diabetic so I am VERY closely monitored as far as diet and weight gain. I see my endocrinologist every 5 weeks and talk to her daily to report my blood sugar readings. Everything is going great so far!

Sleep: I sleep very well! I am still working during the day and going to school at night (only for another 2 months:) so I am pretty tired when I get home. I am getting up to go to the bathroom only once through the night as of now. So as far as sleep goes, I can't complain!

Food/Eating: At first I was having to eat every 2 hours to eliminate nausea. Lately, I am only eating 3 meals a day with 1 snack between lunch and dinner. I haven't had any cravings yet. In fact, it has been quite the opposite for me. Even when I'm hungry, I have a hard time deciding what to eat.

Movement: We had an ultrasound last week and saw the little peanut move a ton. I can't feel anything yet but look forward to the day when I can!

Gender: We should find out June 27th! I can't wait to start planning and shopping:) Of course I think it's a girl and Kevin thinks it's a boy. We will be happy as long as it's healthy! June 27th can't some soon enough.

What I miss: Nothing yet. I feel great, I sleep good, and my energy is back. No complaints!

Looking forward to: Finding out the sex and making sure everything looks healthy on the next ultrasound. Also looking forward to hearing the heartbeat again at my next appointment:)

Happy Belated Mother's Day!!!

So blessed to have these ladies in my life!

Expecting the Unexpected and couldn't be happier!

First things first, (12 weeks ago to be exact) a baby was conceived! That's right; Kevin and I are expecting our first bambino November 17. It was a bit of a shock to us. We had decided to stop taking the pill at the beginning of the year and were waiting to see what happened. I wasn't sure if we would run into any problems or not. In my mind, I thought it may take 6 months or so like it did many of my friends. Well...I started to feel really sick one morning so I decided to get up around 6am and take a test. Confused and unsure, I thought, this can't be right. I must have read the directions 10 times. So, I went back to bed and woke up around 8 to take another one. Again, same result but still confused. I called the doctor and went in for blood work that morning. I wouldn't get the results until the following Monday so I had to wait the entire weekend--UNSURE. While I was on the way home from the doctor, I bought another test. This time, it was one of the 'good ones' where you actually read 'pregnant' or 'not pregnant.' Definitely PREGNANT! I finally believed it myself and broke the news to Kevin. We sat on the couch in silence for about 20 minutes thinking about how our lives were about to drastically change. As I said before, we did 'kind of' plan this but weren't really expecting any results until the summer. When planning, you think you are ready but there is no way to REALLY be prepared. We told our parents at the 7 week mark and of course they were all thrilled! We went in at 6 weeks and got our first ultrasound (since they weren't sure how far along I was) and we were able to hear the heartbeat-AMAZING! At our 12 week appointment this week, they did another ultrasound and we got to see the little peanut and hear the heartbeat again (161 bpm if you believe the old wives tale.) It was kicking and moving like crazy but cooperated very well for some pictures. Definitely a product of Kevin and Me:) We are super excited and feel extremely blessed. I am so grateful to all of our family and friends for being such a great support system. We go back to the doctor every 4 weeks and will find out the sex at the end of June. Of course, Kevin is hoping for the next Trinity High School (Louisville, KY) football star and I just want him/her to be healthy. I will keep you all posted throughout this journey. For now, say a little prayer for a healthy baby and a healthy mommy. I cant wait to share this experience and look back one day to remember everything. Pictures and a weekly post to follow soon.
