Making the House a Home

This is a photo of the dining room window. This area comes off of our family room and also leads into the kitchen. This is probably my favorite part of the house...or at least my favorite wall. My friend Lindsay and I painted the stripes by hand and then I had the panel drapes made. I love the cheetah ruffle.

This is in the family room on the front window. That window gives off a ton of light so we wanted a little privacy with the green sheers that could be pulled across if needed. The cornice board also has the green cheetah ruffle to tie the room together. This is a huge window and it needed some color added to it.

This is also the family room. To the left is the front window and to the right is the dining area with the striped wall. I had the relaxed roman shades put up to fix the bare wall and to also add a more comfortable feel to the room. I had pillows made in all of the fabrics we used to pull everything together. I was really pleased with how everything turned out.

This is the upstairs bathroom. I had the relaxed roman shade made as well as the shower curtain. I love it all!!!
I will post more pictures as I finish the decorating process. I love having a house that I can decorate and I love having a husband-to-be that let's me do it. While he thinks most of these things are silly and unnecessary, we have made an agreement that he can decorate the basement (once it's finished) and he can completely control the outside of the house. I think he secretly likes the window treatments although he would NEVER admit it!

Karley Turns One!!!

For those of you that didn't know...Kevin and I bought a house (last summer) directly behind Kevin's sister and brother-in-law. Their daughter and my soon to be niece turned one on June 15. Her birthday party was a lot of fun. Let's just say, she knew it was her special day. She got lots of presents and she especially loved the cake her mommy made her. It was a giant cupcake with colorful polka dots on top. Overall, the day was a success. Kevin and I were exhausted. We had a couple's shower the night before and ended up with a house full of people the next morning. Once we cleared the house, we did some major cleaning up to prepare for the party. After a long night of margaritas, the last thing Kevin wanted to do was blow up Karley's baby pool we got her. He was a good sport and did it anyway. Anything for the Karlito! We love you Karley and hope you had a great birthday:)

Fun Fact: Kevin and I became Karley's God-Parents last fall and we couldn't have been more honored.

Let it rain, it's time for SHOWERS!!!

We have been so lucky thoroughout our engagement. We have had 6 showers! An engagement party, my mom's family, my dad's family, Kevin's family, a couple's shower, and a girlfriend's shower (not to mention the bachelor and bachelorette parties). We have gotten so many cute things. After every shower, Kevin checks to see if he got manly gifts. Since he only went to the engagement party and the couple's shower, he looked forward to me coming home with the presents so he could check them all out. Most of the things, he didn't care for (since he won't be using them). There were a couple things that he was so excited about. He got a drill, some tools, a waxer/sander/polisher thing, and of course some lowe's gift cards. I hope he is using those new things to build my walk-in closet in the basement. He only has about 20 days to get it ready for me to move in. How can a girl move in if she can't put her clothes anywhere right? I am so excited to move in and start using all of our new things!

Meet the Didio's

This picture was taken the day after we got engaged!

Meet Jennifer:

I graduated from Western Kentucky University in May 2006 with a degree in Textiles and Apparel Merchandising. I was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and loved every minute of it. After I graduated, I started working for a cheerleading and dance competition company (JAMfest) where I traveled all over the United States and worked their events. I recently started a new job as an assistant interior designer at Hubbuch & Co. Westport Village in Louisville, KY. In the fall (after the wedding of course), I plan on attending cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell The School Louisville. That will take about 2 years but I can't wait to begin. In my spare time with planning a wedding, working at Hubbuch's, and preparing for cosmetology school, I love to spend time with my friends and family, Kevin, and my chihuahua, Coco!

Meet Kevin:

Kevin graduated from Western Kentucky University with a recreation degree in May 2006. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity where he served as president his junior and senior year. After he graduated, he moved to Bardstown, Kentucky where he was a Bourbon Specialist for Maker's Mark. He moved back to Louisville in January 2008 to start his Master's program at Bellarmine University and began working for AT&T Mobility. His job is much more confusing than mine so I will leave it at that. I love having him back in Louisville!

The Story of Us:

Kevin and I met while at Western at his old apartment (also known as the 615) in Bowling Green, Kentucky. After we were both living in Louisville, we decided to take the next step and get engaged. Kevin proposed on May 16, 2008! His sister was pregnant and I had just gotten her a bunch of baby clothes for her upcoming shower. One night after work we decided to meet at his parent's house before going to dinner. He was taking a really long time changing his clothes so I walked into his room to hurry him up. Apparently I ruined the surprise by coming in too early. He then got nervous and handed me a bag from a local department store. I looked in it to see what it was. I pulled out a pink onesie that said "my aunt rocks." I thought it was a sweet gesture but I dismissed it like it was nothing. Kevin told me to look at the tag. He had the ring safety pinned to the tag. I looked up and asked if he was serious and he said "do you wanna get married?" I said "of course" and the rest is history. We are getting married on July 11, 2009 and plan on honeymooning in the Bahamas at Atlantis. I can't believe how quickly time has gone by. I can't believe it's almost here! I will be sure to post pictures of both.
