Saylor Rose Didio-11/3/11

Where do I begin? First off, sorry for not doing a better job of updating this blog! So our week last week began with our house being broken into. Monday, I got a call from our alarm company saying that our alarm was going off. I knew right off this wasn't good! The police showed up a little before I did and it was apparent that someone had broken in through the guest bedroom window. They took some of Kevin's watches, sunglasses, and rings. Basically, his 'man jewelry.' Everything else seems to have been untouched. Once they entered the hallway, the alarm went off so I'm guessing they gor scared and left pretty quickly. We filed an insurance claim this past week and will hopefully here something soon. Wednesday, I took my niece, Karley, to her mom's school (she's a teacher) to surprise her for her birthday. Karley picked out some flowers and was really excited to go visit. Little did I know what was to come later that evening. Around 7pm I start to feel yucky. Around 8, I got sick. I thought it was a one-time thing...boy was I wrong! I ended up going to the emergency room at 1am because I still couldn't keep anything down. I thought they would give me fluids and send me home. Wrong again! They admitted me to labor and delivery to monitor me. In the mean time, we have gotten word that others in the family were also sick. About an hour after hearing that news, Kevin gets sick. Yep, right there in labor and delivery. We were quite the site. He is getting sick on the couch and me still hooked up to monitors and fluids in the bed next to him. At this point, we aren't really thinking about having a baby, we just want to get well and go home. I had a scheduled c-section for the following tuesday. My week was perfectly planned out. I was scheduled to get a manicure and pedicure, finish thank you notes, clean the house...all things to keep me occupied so I would be completely ready when tuesday came. Well, Miss Saylor had other plans. The doctor on call came in and said she was showing signs of distress since I had been so sick that we needed to get her out right away. I start to panic a bit. I was sick, I wasn't ready, I was SCARED! Kevin is still getting sick mind you and I am wondering if they are even going to let him into the operating room. They wheel me back pretty quickly and start prepping me. I remember hearing the doctor say, 'here's dad, let's go.' I look over and in comes Kevin, white as a ghost! He makes it long enough to hear her cry and he is pushed out of the room and into recovery to wait on me. Once I get in he recovery room, I find out that Kevin has gotten sick-AGAIN! My doctor walks him down to the ER to get some fluids, I am wheeled to my room, and Saylor is wheeled into the NICU. We are all so sick we aren't allowed to be around each other. Kevin ends up being sent home for the night and my mom stays with me. My fever finally broke through the night and Kevin came back early the next morning feeling much better. We finally got to go meet our sweet girl. She was perfect in every way. They kept her in the NICU for the remainder of our hospital stay to make sure she was ok. They were worried about her heart rate and she proved to be a strong-willed little girl. I think she wanted to go home as much as we did. 5 days later, we were all home and all healthy. We went to the pediatrician and my post-delivery check-up a couple days ago and both got good reports. We are so happy and feel so blessed to have our sweet girl home with us. We are so in love! Here are some pictures from our first week as parents.

The Louisville Cardinals lost today and she was NOT a happy camper.

Off to our first doctor's appointment.

I loved this little mudpie outfit. Her friend, Harper gave it to her.

Sleeping beauty.

Sleeping on Daddy before leaving to come home.

We did newborn pictures yesterday. As soon as I get them back I will be sure to post. Until then, you can find me cuddling with my sweet girl

Because he doesn't always get the credit...

Here is Kevin while cleaning out Saylor's closet. We found some priceless heirlooms; as in his Trinity High School football helmet. Trying on this helmet was followed by a slew of text messages between his friends that also dusted theirs off and sent back pictures. Too funny!

This was at a cocktail competition for the Kentucky Bourbon Festival. He won! His Maker's Mark cocktail will be the featured drink for the 2012 Bourbon Festival. It's kind of a big deal around here!

He even made front page of the Bardstown, Kentucky newspaper!!!

Saylor and I are so proud of you:)

It appears we're ready at least...

Finally the nursery has come together. Here is a view from the doorway:

I am waiting to order a monogrammed plate with her birth information on it to hang in this birdcage:

This little lamb was on my baby bed (also used by my mom and my sister) so I wanted to find somewhere to incorporate it. I put it right above the nightlight.

My grandmother made this ceramic basket and I had a liner made for it. It holds all kinds of stuff from q-tips to lotion to diaper cream.

A view of the chair with the pillows.

This was an old table we had in the house so I decided to paint/distress it and have a cover made for it. I needed something small and this fit perfectly. It has books at the bottom and accessories on top. The small vase (with the little girl on it) was given to my parents at the hospital when I was born. I thought it was sweet and fit my theme.

Another view of the window treatments...and a basket full of toys of course.

The chandy that I got from the peddler's mall (Kevin, there's my one reference for the day.) for a mere $20!

This child will never use all of these bows. She has quite the collection; thanks to her best friend, Harper (who she will soon meet).

The dresser with the changing pad on top. Don't worry, I secured it to the back of the dresser. We didn't really have room for a changing table to I had to make good use of my space.

Her carseat and my diaper bag. As of last night, the carseat is officially installed in my car. It is all starting to become real!

Her mobile. I debated on this and whether or not I needed one. I was assured I made the right decision when my friend Lindsay was over yesterday with her little girl Harper (Saylor's future bff) and she LOVED it! She kept wanting us to play it as she snuggled with her mommy. It was really sweet. I can't wait until I have my own little girl here to snuggle. There is also the sleep sheep in the corner that plays soothing sounds that will hopefully help Miss Saylor to sleep:)

A view of the bedding all put together.

Her monogram on the wall right as you walk in the room. The lighting is kind of bad in the picture but the walls are a light pink (sweet taffy-benjamine moore) and the letters are a metallic gold.

Close up of the window treatments.

More of the bedding and of the paper dolls.

I am almost 33 weeks now. I am now going to the doctor EVERY WEEK! I can't believe how quickly the time has gone. I have really enjoyed being pregnant. I love to feel her move and think I will miss it when she's here. Although, I am so anxious to meet her. We had another ultrasound yesterday and she looks perfect and is right on track where she should be. She is starting to get some chubby cheeks. I can't wait to kiss them! I have had 2 showers and feel so blessed to be surrounded with such a great family and group of friends. Once some people post pictures, I will try to put some on here. I also had maternity pictures done. I will try to post some of those as well. I am beyond pleased with how they turned out. That's all for now...until next time!

Miss Saylor's goodies!

This is a bow holder I made for her many bows she will have.

Some accessories for her room that I'm not exactly sure what to do with yet.

Her reading material.

Her laundry pile. Just for the record, I have only bought about 5 outfits for her. The rest was given to her already.

This corner of her room filled with anything and everything.

Her crib.

Things are finally starting to come together. I can't wait to meet her. I am almost 27 weeks now. Only 10-12 more weeks until she arrives!!!

25.5 weeks and room inspiration

I decided not to post about my pregnancy this week because everything is pretty much the same since last post. Instead, I figured I would update on her room. Below is my drawing of the room layout and random details I didn't want to forget about. Very professional, I know. Ha!

I found these vintage paper dolls online for next to nothing. The doll is 22 inches so the dresses are big too. These will be framed and go above her crib.

I found this dresser at the peddler's mall this past weekend. It is exactly what I was looking for. It is almost identical to the one I had growing up. I was so excited to find it! I am still unsure if I am going to paint it or not. I am waiting to put the bed up to see if the off-whites clash or compliment.

This is her pile of 'stuff' she has accumulated over the past couple months. We still have a lot of work to do to clean her room (Kevin's office) out before painting and moving forward.

This is the mirror for the dresser and the light fixture for her room. One is hers and the other is for the stairwell leading to the basement.

Here are the fabrics I am using. I hope you understand these bits and pieces. More to come. I can't wait to start painting and getting everything into her room and set up!!! Only 14 more weeks (at the most). Crazy to think she'll be here in a few short weeks!!!

24 Weeks

This is the only picture I have. It is from tonight. I made dinner and watched my nieces while their mom and dad went to dinner for their anniversary. Never a dull moment:)

Total weight gain: 15 pounds so far. Doctor says I'm right on track. I thought I had gained more since we just got back from vacation but she seemed pleased.

Sleep: Still no complaints. I sometimes get up once through the night to go to the bathroom but I usually get back to sleep pretty quickly.

Food/Eating: Same. I don't feel like I eat any more or less than I did before I was pregnant. I still don't have any cravings either although the heartburn is always nagging at me.

What I miss: Nothing!

Looking forward to: Starting her room! I ordered fabric today and the crib is in. I had someone come in and measure for the window treatments today and I hope to finish getting the fabric within the next couple weeks. We still need to pick the bed up and put it together. I can't wait to see it!

Best moment of the week: Hitting the 3rd trimester. This pregnancy has gone by so quickly! Also, Kevin finally felt her kick. It was so sweet. She is starting to kick so hard that you can see my belly move from across the room. Lastly, I went to the doctor today and she informed me that I will get a few more ultrasounds. I will go back at 28 weeks and get ultrasounds every 2 weeks until I deliver. They are looking for fetal growth. Basically, they want to monitor everything so in case my blood sugar goes crazy (which I'm not expecting) then they can be prepared to deliver as soon as possible. This is just in case. Like I said, we aren't really expecting this to happen but it is better to be prepared than not. I was happy to hear that I will get to see her more before she arrives. I love seeing her every chance I get!

These are some of the things I got her on vacation. A brown corduroy dress with tights, a stuffed octopus with socks she can wear, a pink pearl necklace onesie, a white ruffled gown with a crown on it, some burp cloths, and an overnight bag for when she stays the night out:)
